Supertrend CCI Indicator MT5
Platform: MT5 Type: Trend Last update: December 27, 2025The Supertrend CCI Indicator for MT5 is an interesting combination of a well-known trend-following indicator and the classic Commodity Channel Index into one tool. It provides clear market direction and better entry points.
Example chart:

How to use the Supertrend CCI indicator for MetaTrader 5?
Once the Supertrend CCI indicator is activated in MetaTrader 5 platform, it displays green and pink line.
It consists of two elements and each one has its own role:
- Supertrend – responsible for recognizing overall trend.
- CCI – an oscillator that identifies overbought/oversold market conditions.
Essentially, when the indicator turns turns green it means a bullish signal. Conversely, when it turns pink it suggests bearish bias.
The best entry points occur when price makes an pullback but the main signal line doesn’t change color and then price resumes movement to the original direction.
Real-life example trades
Take a look at the GBP/USD H1 chart.

As you can see, there is a clear downtrend and price consistently trades below the main line – confirming ongoing bearish momentum.
Several pullbacks occur and the indicator does not change color so the primary trend remains intact. These pullbacks give high-probability sell entry opportunities (they are marked with arrows).
Settings
In the settings window, one can customize three inputs:
- CCI period – sets the number of bars used to calculate the Commodity Channel Index, affecting how sensitive the indicator is to price changes(default value: 50)
- CCI price – defines which price data (such as typical, close, or median price) is used for calculating the CCI values (default value: Typical price)
- ATR period – sets the number of bars used to calculate the Average True Range, which impacts how closely the Supertrend line follows price movements (default value: 5)
Bottom line
The Supertrend CCI indicator for MT5 works best in trending markets and does not repaint. On the other hand, it may produce some false signals during sideways or low-volatility market conditions. Free download option is available.
