Introduction to the Trend Flex X2 Indicator

The Trend Flex X2 Indicator was developed by John Ehlers who describes it as “a new zero-lag indicator”. In essence, it is a crossover-based trend-following gauge. In our opinion, it’s better to pair it with some filter to increase the success rate of provided signals.

The Trend Flex X2 Indicator fits all kinds of timeframes and currency pairs. It is displayed in a separate window placed just below the main trading chart. The default settings can be modified directly from the input tab. Feel free to experiment with the settings and parameters to fit your personal preferences.

Anatomy of the Trend Flex X2 indicator

The signals of the Trend Flex X2 Indicator are based on a simple crossover between two MAs with specific settings. The first and fast trendflex MA is 20-period, while the second and slow trendflex MA is 50-period. When the 20 TMFA is located above the 50 TFMA it represents the bullish crossover is considered. Conversely, the 20 TFMA located below the 50 TFMA, it means the signal is bearish.

Buy trade is now triggered
Set stop loss a few pips below the most recent market low

Download the Trend Flex X2.rar archive at the bottom of this post, unpack it, then copy and paste the Trend Flex X2.ex4 or Trend Flex X2.mq4 indicator files into the MQL4 folder of the Metatrader 4 trading platform.

You can gain access to this folder by clicking the top menu options, which goes as follows:

File > Open Data Folder > MQL4 > Indicators (paste here).

Now go to the left side of your MT4 terminal. In the Navigator find the gauge name, right-click it and select Attach to the chart.
