Example chart:

How to use the Trend Direction and Force Index Indicator for MT5?
Blue bars on the Trend Direction and Force Index Indicator reflect bullish power and red bars reflect bearish power.
Darker shades signal increasing force, while lighter shades signal it’s fading.
Most of the time, the histogram stays flat and bars only appear when the underlying shift in price is significant enough.
Bar height matters just as much as color. Taller bars point to a stronger, more decisive move. On the other hand, short bars suggest weak or hesitant price action that may not be worth acting on.

As you can see on the USD/CHF H1 chart above, each cluster of tall bars lines up with a clear directional push in price. The flat stretches in between correspond to periods where price barely moves.
Trading applications
Since the Trend Direction and Force Index Indicator stays quiet during low-momentum periods, it works well as a filter rather than a standalone entry tool.
It’s best to wait for a cluster of bars to form before treating a move as significant. Use the shift from dark to light shading as an early warning that momentum is fading, often before price itself shows clear signs of reversing.
